“Yeah, yeah! I missed you too Paul Harington, stop chocking me.” He chuckled at me and ruffled my brown hair without faltering his big smile.
“Save me some hug, will you?” I turned to the voice to witness a green-eyed blond with a slim body.
“Rachel, what are you doing here?” Paul and Rachel Max were my childhood best friends; we used to play together when every time I visit Maine. Their parents were so close to my family.
“Nice to meet you too Cathie” she rolled her eyes for my blunt response, still not faltering her grin.
“We heard from your granny that you are staying here for a year, so we thought of surprising you.” “SURPRISE!” They both yelled in unison with full of enthusiasm and gave me a big, warm hug.
“Please come in, it’s getting cold out here.” I closed the front door after ushering them in. We all moved to the living room filled with the aroma of granny’s cookie. She was comfortably seated in an armchair with a lazy grin on her face; I could tell that they all planned this without my knowledge.
“I’m famished, let me have some cookies and make some way shorties.” Paul shooed us away to make his way to the coffee table.
“We are not short, you dumbass!” we both smacked his head and made our way near granny. “Sure you are not!” Paul raised both his hands in mock surrender.
“Granny you are a life saviour these cookies are the best.” Paul kissed granny’s cheek and kept on munching his cookies.
“So what are you up to young man?” Granny raised her silver eyebrows at Paul, who was ravishing his plate. I was wondering how he maintains this muscular physic despite of eating these junk.
“Granny we are going to a night club, so we both thought of taking Cathie with us” Oh my god, this was the best news I had ever heard for the past few months.
“Oh my god, really Paul, you are a life saviour. Please, granny, it’s just one night, I’ll return before it’s twelve.” My granny pursed her lips in a thin line and narrowed her eyes on me, searching for any rebellious ideas. When she couldn’t find anything, she nodded her head. My smile grew so big like it’s even possible.
“I want you home before twelve and no alcohol. Paul, Rachel please do take care of her, and don’t leave by her side.” She told them with concern and worry-filled face. They both nodded in unison.
“Granny don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine. Now please give me that breathtaking smile of yours.” She gave me her most charming smile.
“When are we leaving?” I asked Rachel who was already dressed in a short sleeveless red dress to ravish the night.
“We are leaving at half-past eight.” I checked the time to know that it was fifteen to eight, so I have forty-five minutes to get ready.
“I’ll be back after a shower, Rachel can you please select a dress for me from my baggage, and I didn’t unpack my suitcase yet.” We both walked upstairs to my new bedroom while Paul chatted with my granny in the living room about his plans after college.
After my blissful bath with my vanilla and strawberry hair wash, I walked out of the bathroom wrapping a white fluffy towel around me. I spotted Rachel holding a black lace dress with full sleeve.
“I think it’ll be perfect for the night.” She held the dress for me to try. After changing into my party wear, I examined myself in the mirror. The dress dropped slightly above my knees, it had a deep V cut in the front showing some cleavage. The black dress looked contrasting to my pale skin and it compliments my curvaceous body. My brown hair was completely dried now with its natural waves. I could see the dark circles under my big doe-like brown eyes. Rachel curled my hair to perfection and gave a smoky effect to my eyes to complete my look.
“You look so beautiful.” She complimented me.
“Thank you, so do you” we both entered the living room to hear a wolf whistle from Paul.
“I think I’m going to fight men all night.” He winked at me with a tease still not taking his eyes from my face.
“Oh shut up Paul!” I shoved him playfully at his chest. He chuckled softly shaking his head at me.
“You both look breathtaking.” My granny gave us a warm hug. “I know, I’m the reason behind it.” Rachel chirped in about her talent in makeup and hairdo.
“Bye granny, it’s getting late. We’ll be moving now” we all hugged granny and made our way out of the house.
“Use protection sweetie” she yelled at me from the porch. Argh! This was so humiliating. I could hear the laughter beside me.
“Grannyyyyyy” I protested. “What? I was just saying.” She gave me a wink and went inside the home.
