After my little tantrum and emotional outbreak, we made it to the nearby grocery shop. I was on my toes, bouncing down the aisle full of enthusiasm. Alexander’s eyes shone with amusement and he chuckled at my behaviour.
I filled our cart with more junk foods, chocolates and ice cream. After we disbursed for our items, we made it to his mansion. His mansion was guarded by his pack warriors and it was located close to his packhouse. He didn’t have many maids only two or three to clean because he likes cooking his own food.
After we made it inside, I had a little bowl filled with Oreos and milk, while Alexander settled with cereals. I had a goofy smile while eating and he eyed me warily with a smirk.
“How about we watch a movie after breakfast?” I asked him with my hopeful eyes.
“Sure, princess.” He smiled, I squealed with delight and we both settled for ‘The Proposal’
He didn’t say anything about my movie choice soon we made ourselves comfortable on the couch. I rested my head on his lap with a tub of ice cream.
“How is your stomach cramp?” he asked me placing his warm yet rough palm on my bare stomach under my shirt.
“It still hurts a little but now it feels good. Don’t take off your hand.” I gazed up at him and he drew soothing circles on my bare stomach with a nod.
“Brother!” we heard a voice. The voice was oddly familiar. Beneath me, I felt Alexander stiffening upon hearing the voice. I sat upright from my previous position and searched for the person.
My breathing hitched, my eyes widened at the size of a saucer. My heart started to pound so fast, it felt like, it was about to rip out of my chest. It was the same buff man who chased after me in the forest.
“Alexander! He…he is the one… who tried to kill… me!” I pointed my accusing finger at the man in front of me. I gripped Alexander’s biceps for my dear life.
“Catherine, calm down!” he tried to calm me. My breathing was ragged like I ran a marathon.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here, brother? The precious, Catherine brown.” He mocked at me with a glint of mischievousness in his eyes.
“Brother?” my hands dropped to my side and I looked at Alexander to deny what I was thinking but he didn’t.
“Alex…ander, is that…true? Is…he your…brother?” I asked him, my eyes were pricking with tears. He didn’t say anything he just nodded without any guilt. My heart was hammering so fast.
“I’m leaving,” I announced and tried to leave but a hand on my wrist jerked me to a sculpted chest harshly. It was Alexander, he looks deathly, gone all the trace of adorable and playfulness. His eyes shone with rage, he smirked at me with an evil glint.
My heart started to pound so fast, the waterfall started to fall out of my eyes, I was breathing so fast. “Where do you think you are going? Already planning to leave your boyfriend?” he asked me with a bone-chilling laugh.
“Alex…ander, what happened… to you? Leave me, you’re hurting me.” I cried out in pain when his grip on my delicate wrist tightened. It must be a nightmare my Alexander never hurts me. He was playful, loving and caring.
I tried to wake up but stuck in the harsh reality without a choice.
I saw his brother smirk at me with a predatory look. “I thought of taking this a little far but you have to ruin it for me, didn’t you?” Alexander smirked at his brother.
“What are you talking about? You can’t hurt me like this.” I tried to pull off desperately because he was scaring me now.
“And why not”
“Because I love you and you love me.” I cried pathetically.
“How can I love a murderer especially the one who killed my mate? Huh?” he growled at me, his eyes were not blue anymore it was yellow with full of rage.
“You are lying.” I stopped my struggles and stood frozen on my spot. My heart was pounding so fast. His words were like heated sword assaulting my heart repeatedly, I felt my lungs not working anymore.
“Do you remember the accident in New York a year ago,” he growled, “You bombarded your car with the car where my pregnant mate was travelling, she died in that accident!!!” he pushed me on the ground and punched the wall near me. I gasped. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears.
“Please tell me you are lying! Please! I love you, I didn’t kill anyone!” I screamed at him pleading desperately to deny his words but he glared at me with disgust and hatred. I stumbled down, clutching my hair tightly and fell on my knee with a broken heart. Did he act all this time, he didn’t love me. he hated me all this time, the ugly realisation dawns to me.
My heart was hammering erratically, my breathing became so short and the pain in my stomach intensified from all the screaming. The pain was unbearable but the pain in my heart was soul-shattering and a thousand times stronger than any physical pain. I clutched my heart and curl into a tiny ball to protect myself from his words. I felt so suffocating and I blacked out with a lack of oxygen.
