I was sitting on the living room couch of Alexander’s mansion. I never knew how I got here. Aiden was sitting beside me, running his fingers through his hair. Drake was pacing the room.
I didn’t speak a single word since I returned but I snapped out of my numbness once Alexander entered the room. He looked so worried, he literally ran to my side once he saw my condition.
“Alexander…” I whispered his name. My voice was hoarse and groggy from all the crying. His name was the first word that came out of my mouth.
He wasted no time and embraced me in a warm hug. I hugged him so tight and sobbed uncontrollably in his neck.
He scooped me in his arms and made his way upstairs, “Shh! I’m here, please don’t cry,” he whispered soothing words in my ears and kept on kissing my forehead and cheeks.
I felt so safe, my shattered soul was at ease when he was near me.
He laid me gently on the bed and took a step away which made me whimper.
“It’s okay, I’m going to turn off the lights,” but one look on my face made him crash his lips with mine.
I want him to make my pain go away.
We both pulled away breathing heavily, I clutched the front of his shirt in my tiny fist and held him close to me. He laid himself beside me and pulled me close to his chest by my waist. I buried my face in his chest and he engulfed my tiny frame with his massive one.
“Alexander, she…she…” I sobbed, unable to complete my sentence.
“I know baby, shh! It’s okay, I’m here, I’m here,” he whispered sweet nothing to me while rubbing soothing circles on my back. He pepper kissed my hair to comfort me.
“Why? Why would she do this to me?” I lifted my head from his chest and gazed at his face. Our eyes locked, mine filled with tears and vulnerability and his filled with concern and worry.
“If I knew earlier, I swear, I would have protected you from her.” He kissed my forehead softly.
“It…hurts, make this pain go away, please…please….” My heart ached, I felt like ripping it out of my chest. How did I become a damsel in distress? I should have never come to this place. I must have stayed with my parents.
I loved my granny so much. She was the coolest person I have ever met in my life. I killed my cousin, Lia aka Natalia William, so that’s why the portrait of his mate seemed familiar to me.
“Shh! I’m sorry, I promise you, Catherine. I will never hurt you again and I’ll cherish you till my last breath.” He whispered sweet words in my ear and kissed my earlobe which made me bury my face deeper in his chest.
He rubbed soothing circles on my back which made me relax in his muscular arms. He whispered sweet nothing in my ears and kept on kissing my dishevelled hair, my forehead and my tear-stained cheeks. He kissed my tears away and I was no longer crying. I felt so safe and protected in his arms. He might have hurt me once but he was a good man and he was my everything.
“You won’t leave me, right?” I asked him with a broken voice.
“I won’t and I, Alexander Nicholas Knight, the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, promise you, Catherine Elizabeth Brown, the love of my life that I won’t leave you at any cause. I will cherish you and love you to my core even after my death.” He told me sincerely.
He maintained eye contact throughout his little speech. I sat from my position and he too sat beside me facing my face. I was speechless. he held both my hands in his massive one.
“Love of your life?” I whispered.
“Natalia might be my destined mate but you are the love of my life and you captured my heart with your kindness and forgiving nature without the help of destiny,” he paused and kissed my palm, “I love you, Catherine” his little speech took my breath away. Tears of happiness brimmed my eyes. I didn’t blink or diverted my attention from his face.
“Oh shit! I know it’s not the right time to say, I thought of surprising you with my proposal like a normal hum…” I cut off his cute blabbering by pressing my lips against him. This was the worst yet best day of my life.
We both pulled away from our heated kiss, panting heavily and that night he made sweet love to me.
“I love you, Alexander,” I replied to his proposal against his neck and I felt him smile against my hair. I placed a kiss against the pounding nerve in his neck.
“I love you, Catherine,” he whispered and planted a kiss against my hair and we both fell into a peaceful slumber in the comfort of each other’s arm.
