Alexander’s POV~
After I tied her hair we both went to the kitchen for our dinner. I noticed some tendrils of her hair escaped from her ponytail, framing her soft face. It made her as cute as a button. We both had our dinner in silence, it was a little awkward. I stole a glance at her while she was not looking.
I was still trying to contemplate these newfound feelings. After we both finished our dinner, I cleared my throat to gain her attention.
“You should make a call and talk to your friends and family, assure them that you’re fine but no funny business,” I told her with a straight face. Her phone was piling up with messages for the last couple of weeks. I didn’t want her friends to get any suspicious idea, especially that Paul guy.
“Okay,” she softly whispered and took her phone from my hand. I didn’t see any trace of mischief from her expression. So I nodded my head and made my way to my study room to give her some privacy.
I need to find a way to stop these rogues from attacking innocent werewolves and humans.
Catherine’s POV~
As soon as I switched on my mobile I was greeted with piles of text messages and voice mails. I decided to call my best friend first. Paul answered his mobile on his second ring.
“Damn it, Catherine, where the hell did you disappeared?” he demanded. He sounded so worried.
“Hello to you too, Paul, I went on a vacation with Alexander.” I lied.
“You should have told me, I was so worried about you,” he told me with a sigh of relief.
“I’m so sorry, how have you been?” I asked him biting my nails in apprehension.
“Yeah I’m fine and you have a lot of college work to do,” he teased me and that made me groan. I heard him chuckle.
Well, I didn’t think about my college, what was I supposed to do with that?
We talked for a while and that put me on ease. Paul had the power to calm me and distract me from my worries. After I assured him that I’ll back in a few days, we both hang up.
Now it was time to talk to my parents, I took a deep breath and called my home landline.
“Hello, Pumpkin, is that you?” I heard my mom’s voice and I heard some shuffling.
“Yeah, mom, it’s me, Catherine”
“Why didn’t you pick my call? You just texted a few days but didn’t attend my call, why was that?” she asked me with a sceptical tone. Alexander must have texted her.
“I must be in the middle of class or with some other work,” I gave her a shitty explanation but she hummed with ambiguity in her voice. I thanked the heavens because she didn’t ask me further questions.
“Mom, can I ask you something?” I mentally prepared myself to hear the truth.
“Yeah, honey.”
“Did I kill someone in my accident?” I held my breath. my heart was pounding so fast.
“What? Who told you?” her breath was shaky.
“Mom, please answer me, don’t hide anything, please, I want to know,” I pleaded desperately.
“Honey, it was not your fault, you…you were in a coma for a month, so…so we thought it was best not to tell you” she stuttered trying to convince me. Her answer knocked the breath out of me. I feel like my heart was about to jump out of my chest. So it was true, huh?
“How could you hide me something this big? I was a murderer, wasn’t I?” why did I feel betrayed by everyone? How could my parents do this to me?
“It’s not your fault that your car’s brake didn’t work, listen to me…” I ended the call. I needed to clear my head, I need some alcohol. I made my way to the small bar attached to Alexander’s living room.
My phone rang, it was my mom. I hit the red button, switched off my mobile and tossed it on the table. I grabbed a bottle of scotch and drank it from the bottle.
The familiar liquid burnt my throat. It had a long time since I drank. I took large gulps from the bottle. Soon I started to feel dizzy and I being a lightweight didn’t help my alcohol intake.
The bottle was half empty by now. I wiped my lips at the back of my palm.
“What are you doing?” I heard a deep masculine voice from my behind. I turned my head to spot the wolf-man at the entrance of the living room.
“Wolfy…,” I giggled. He looked at me with wide eyes after taking in my form.
“Are you drunk, Catherine?” he asked me and made his way near me.
“Nooooo, you look soooooo cuteeeeeee! With hat ice,” I yelled and stood on my feet.
“Why the land…shh sho…shakuing?” I stumbled forward but he got me on time before I kissed the floor.
“You’re completely wasted,” he muttered and shook his head disapprovingly. I giggled and pinched his cheeks.
“Aweeee, You’re sho adhoraeble,” he swiped me off my feet and carried me in his strong arms.
“This is going to be a long night,” I heard him mutter under his breath.
